The Lexington Selected Yearling Sale (October 3-7) closed out its 2007 auction on Sunday and the final numbers revealed a gross of $35.6 million and an average price of $45,068, both increases of 15 percent.

The sale gross climbed 15.9 percent while the average price increased by 15.2 percent. In 2006 the sale grossed $30.7 million and attained an average of $39,117.

Although all sectors of the market increased, trotting-bred colts attained the highest average at $53,139. A total of 31 trotting-bred colts brought prices of $100,000 or more. Trotting fillies attained the second highest average at $48,395 with 25 bringing six-figure prices.

A total of 404 pacers were sold with the 224 colts bringing an average of $43,871 and the 180 fillies generating a $34,478 figure.
