Scenic Regal can be described as a trotter who was just like that battery commercial…she just kept going and going and going…This daughter of Lindy’s Crown won an amazing 77 races during her career…and was second in 32 others…racing against the best.

Didn’t matter whether it was a mile track, a three quarter mile track or a half miler, she was up to the task. Unraced at two, she won 10 races at age three, nine more at four, 17 in 1987 at age five, 13 more in ’88, another 11 in 1989, 13 in 1990 and, in 1991 at age nine, she won four times and was in the money in 13 of 14 starts.

Add it all up and you get $1,088,956 in bounty with her mark set in her very last year on the racetrack—1:57.4—on a half mile track, no less. She never won a Breeders Crown…but she was second in three of ‘em.

She was voted "Aged Trotter of the Year" for three straight years, 1987, 1988 and 1989…and when her major accomplishments were tallied each of those years, her "major" victories were not stakes events worth hundreds of thousands of dollars but, rather, victories in open handicap trotting events—none worth as much as $25,000.

She was just one of those grinders who had a job to do…and she did it! Guiding her throughout her grand career was Harold Story, who was in his mid-60’s when he hopped in Scenic Regal’s bike for the first time.
