As a freshman Super Bowl set a world record of 2:01.4 on Liberty Bell's five-eight's mile track and then later set a recod of 1:59.4, becoming the third-fastest two-year-old trotting colt of all time behind Nevele Pride and Noble Gesture. He was a season's champion on all three sized ovals and won the Westbury Futurity, the International Stallion Stakes, the ER Harriman Trot, the Van Riddell Stakes and many others. He was voted Two-Year-Old Trotter of the Year for 1971.

At three Super Bowl continued his dominance of his division, winning, among others, the 1972 edition of the Hambletonian, the Kentucky Futuriyt and the Yonkers Trot--completing a sweep of the trotting Triple Crown. He set a world record of 1:56.2 for his age gruop, beating Nevele Pride's record by one-fifth of a second. He also set an all-age two-heat world record of 1:56.2 and 1:57.2 in the Hambletonian at DuQuoin. His race time of 1:56.2 was second only to Noble Victory's 1:55.3 for trotters of any age. He trotted to 12 2:00 or faster victories that year--the most ever at the time by a trotter in a single season. He also set the single-season money-winning record for North American trotters with earnings of $436,258. He won Trotter of the Year honors easily, and would have won Horse of the Year honors had it not been for his stablemate Albatross.
Super Bowl has sired the winners of over $83,635,240 to date (December 1, 2006), from 1,573 total starters, 437 who have been in 2:00 or faster and 28 who have been timed in 1:55 or better. As well, he was also a top broodmare sire, as his daughters have produced over 300 2:00 trotters.
