Could Saturday Night be Ladies Night??
December 1, 2004
Could Saturday night be Ladies Night at The Meadowlands? Can Robin Schadt-with two in the Three Diamonds-or Kathleen La Montagne with Motivational in the Goldsmith Maid, make some of their own history??
Here's what they are shooting for: The ONLY two female trainers to win a Final Four race-EVER-were Liz Quesnel-in 1995-when she captured the Three Diamonds with Chippies Ruler, who went on to divisional honors (along with freshman stablemate A Stud Named Sue)-and Flo Elliott in 1997, when her Buzzin Brian held off Conway Hall in the Valley Victory.
Robin and Kathleen are trying to add to that list.
Robin Schadt will try to do what has only been done ONCE-in Meadowlands history-a female trainer finishing 1-2 in a race valued at over $100g.
Linda Toscano did it earlier this year with Maltese Artist and Art Director in the $150,000 NJSS final for sophomore colts. Even more impressive is that Timesarachanging (later the Adios and Jug winner) was 4th in there. And even MORE impressive-the time 1:49.2. That is the fastest time in the 34 year history of the NJSS-any race, any time, anywhere.
