March 29, 2007

Due to a power outage at at The Meadowlands, the $67,000 Jersey Girls final has been reset for Thursday, April 5th.  Gro aims for a series sweep in the event for pacing fillies and mares.

The four-year-old daughter of Pro Bono Best earned the role of 2-1 morning line favorite in the featured fifth race after capturing both preliminary legs of the series. Trained by Julie Miller, Gro will start from post two [program number three] with Miller's husband, Andy, in the sulky. She is owned by Claudia Wright of Charlotte, Michigan and Roger Welch of Beecher, Illinois.

Gro has a career slate of 15 wins, six seconds and eight thirds in 45 starts and $172,955 in earnings. She took a mark of 1:50.4 when she wired the field in last week's second leg of the Jersey Girls at the Meadowlands.

"The way she was in the first two legs, I think she has a good chance of winning the final," said Andy Miller. "She is real sharp right now. She is very versatile; she is good on the front and she is good with a trip."

Miller has been on a hot streak at the Meadowlands, racking up 27 wins since March 14. In addition to winning the $121,300 Four Leaf Clover Final last Saturday night with Crawdad, he pulled off a five-bagger on the March 22 card.

"I am having a good run," Miller said. "This business is about ups and downs. It has been a good week and a good year so far. I hope it continues."
