Jamieson Wins #4,000
March 17, 2008
Jody Jamieson celebrated a career achievement on Monday night (March 17) at Woodbine Racetrack when he guided to BJ's Boomerang to victory in the night's 11th race, giving him 4,000 lifetime wins as a harness driver.
The 31-year-old Cambridge resident entered Monday's program just two wins shy of the plateau and clicked early in race two with first-time starter Tempest Anvil N, setting the stage for the milestone victory. He went on to capture the night's finale with Nathanials Artist for good measure.
Jamieson is coming off his best season ever in the race bike which culminated in an O'Brien Award as Canada's Driver of the Year. He captured many of the sport's biggest races in 2007 including the Little Brown Jug, Confederation Cup, Governor's Cup, Breeders Crown and Pepsi North America Cup at Mohawk Racetrack.
The colorful reinsman is off to another fast start this season with 62 wins and more than $1 million in purse earnings to his credit so far. Lifetime, his mounts have banked more than $40 million.
Jamieson is also a past winner of the World Driving Championship, capturing the event back in 2001 when it was held in Scandinavia.
