Odds On Racing's Horse of the Month Jag de Bellouet was defeated on Sunday, February 20th in the $425,000 (US) Prix de Paris in France. Raced at the Hippodrome de Vincennes in Paris at 2.5 miles, the race is the longest trotting event in Europe. As the overwheliming favorite, Jag de Bellouet was assigned a 25-meter handicap. Jardy scored the win with Jag de Bellouet in second and Gigant Neo in for third. The time for the event was a mile rate of 2:00.2.
That same day Vasterbo Daylight posted her third straight victory in the $120,000 (US) Prix Djerid (monte race). Winning by ten lengths over her nearest rival, the Swedish import now has over $250,000 (US) in her account this year from just three starts. Vasterbo Daylight owns the three fastest times ever clocked in a European trotting under saddle event, each taken at a distance of 1 5/16 miles. Only the great Moni Maker has ever trotted faster under saddle.
