Glidemaster was named Harness Horse of the Year for 2006 by the U.S.Harness Writer's Association and presented with the Dan Patch Award. In addition, he was also named Three-Year-Old Trotting Colt and Trotter o the Year for 2006. In balloting for the Dan Patch award as Horse of the Year, Glidemaster received 119 votes from the U.S. Harness Writers Association.

This outstanding trotter won the Triple Crown of Trotting by virtue of his victories in the Hambletonian, Kentucky Futurity and Yonkers Trot in 2006. He was the first trotter to win the Triple Crown since Windsong's Legacy in 2004 and the second since Super Bowl accopmlished that feat in 1972. John Campbell drove Glidemaster for most of the year until being sidelined with a broken leg in October. George Brennan took over for the colt's final two starts, including the Yonkers Trot.

In his very first start as a 2-year-old he trotted to a North American Season’s record win, scoring in 1:56.2 at Mohawk. He won his second start in 1:55.3, which equalled the great Mack Lobell’s World Record for a freshman trotter.

He came back as a 3-year-old in 2006 and became the sport's eighth winner of the Triple Crown, capturing the $1,500,000 Hambletonian in its fastest time ever (1:51.1); the $526,000 Kentucky Futurity in straight heats; and the $728,930 Yonkers Trot in his first effort over a half-mile track.

He also annexed the Simcoe and an elimination of the Breeders Crown, helping him achieve his ranking as the sport's leading single-season money-winning trotter of all time, with $1,918,701. He is also the year's fastest 3-year-old trotter, at 1:51.1.

Glidemaster is the richest and fastest son of the world’s leading money-winning trotting sire of 2006, Yankee Glide. He will be standing his first season as a stallion at Walnridge Farm in Pennsylvania in 2007.
