Passionate Glide

Passionate Glide is one of the most fluid trotters to watch in action.  It appears that she barely touches the ground as she skims along with her driver in tow.  She began her career inauspiciously in a few qualifiers at The Meadowlands for trainer Jimmy Takter in July of 2005, and was second in her career debut at Lexington on August 12.  She won her next start, the $80,400 Lexington Stallion Stakes by six lengths for driver Ron Pierce in 2:00.1 easily.  She went on to score five wins and five second-place finishes in 11 races while earning $638,947 for her connections that season. Among others she won the $516,800 Breeders Crown in 1:55.4 and 473,884 Goldsmith Maid handily in 1:59.

As a freshman, Passionate Glide earned $638,947 for her connections, and was named the Freshman Filly Trotter of the Year by the U.S.Harness Writers Association.

In 2006 Passionate Glide record has remained unblemished, a perfect six for six coming into the Hambletonian Oaks on Saturday, August 5 at The Meadowlnds.  She began the year with a couple of solid qualifiers at The Big M in late May and early June for Takter.  She then won her first pari-mutuel outing a $22,500 New Jersey Sires Stakes trot in 1:56.2 with Pierce at the lines. One week later she returned to score a 1:54.4 win in another $25,500 NJSS event at The Big M and followed that up with a 1:52.4 win in the $175,000 NJSS Final, winning by nearly six lengths over Queen Serene and Simple Task.  She went on to capture both the elim and the $375,000 Final of the Del Miller Memorial in 1:52.4.

Passionate Glide advanced her 2006 winning streak to six for six as she won her $50,000 Hambletonian Oaks elimination race for three-year-old trotting fillies on Saturday, July 29 at The Meadowlands in 1:56.2 by a neck over rival Celebrity Sweedie (Cat Manzi).

"We just wanted to get her around as easy as possible and not stretch her out and win by as little as we had to," said driver Ron Pierce of Passionate Glide. "I wouldn't say she's 100%. She has a couple little issues that I'm sure Jimmy [trainer Jimmy Takter] will have no trouble getting straightened out. No anxious moments at all. Jimmy told me not to win by more than a length so I just kind of chased her home a bit but I didn't really step on the gas. I sure hope she can go seven for seven."
