Horse & Groom Final Sunday at The Big M

CR Dream Catcher notched The $89,400 Horse & Groom Final Sunday at The Meadowlands for driver Jeff Gregory in 1:56. On a rain drenched surface, CR Dream Catcher completed a clean sweep of the series, having won the first two legs.

This horse is getting real sharp now," Gregory said. "We got to educate this horse real well at Freehold and he's been doing well. I didn't think there was a chance to win if I took him off the gate. You've got to be in them to win 'em."

CR Dream Catcher, who has three wins and three thirds in eight starts this year, improved his career record to 12 wins, three seconds and eighth thirds in 30 tries. The $3,000 yearling purchase has now banked $123,142 lifetime.

Gregory fired CR Dream Catcher out of the 10-hole and had the lead just past the first quarter before releasing Miss Fairfax and taking the two-hole tuck. In the stretch, he would find racing room along the pylons before edging past the outside of Wildfire Bo near the wire.

The five-year-old gelded son of Royal Troubador caught Wildfire Bo in the final 50 yards, on a track rated good after daylong showers. This was the first stakes victory for CR Dream Catcher, who is trained by his owner, Thomas O. Lail of Swedesboro, New Jersey.
