Total Truth wins his elim and the final of the Hoosier Cup

Total Truth took the lead and never looked back to win the $450,000 Hoosier Cup in 1:51. The three-year-old son of Jenna's Beach Boy, trained by George Teague, Jr. was fresh off his rousing 1:49.1 victory in the North America Cup one week prior.

“It was a pretty easy drive,” winning driver Yannick Gingras said. “The race worked out the way I planned, actually. I knew Dave Panlone would take the front, and he let me go pretty easy. I moved early just like in the elimination and said, ‘why not try it again?’ ”

The victory by Total Truth was his fourth in five outings for 2006, and increased his career bankroll to more than $1 million. He will return to his home base in Delaware to prepare for the $1 million Meadowlands Pace, in July, for trainer George Teague Jr.

“It was either rest three weeks and qualify or win a half-million,” Teague said about on placing Total Truth in the Hoosier Cup. “We would need a prep for the Meadowlands Pace so I chose to take the half-million.”

Teague is no stranger to superstar racehorses. He was the trainer of Rainbow Blue, the 2004 Horse of the Year. He was joined in the winner’s circle by owners Patrick and Marianne Callahan, who make up Only Money, Inc. The Callahans and Teague teamed and purchased Total Truth as a yearling.

Western Guy, Total Truth take Hoosier Elims
Western Guy and driver Andy Miller cruised home to victory in the first elimination of the Hoosier Cup in 1:51.3. Real Mean Art and Yannick Gingras finished second, with Sea Dragon and Mark MacDonald third.

Total Truth took the second elimination in 1:50.1 with Yannick Gingras in the bike. Dave Panlone and David Palone moved up the inside for second. My Boy David and Andy Miller finished third.
