By Bob "Hollywood" Heyden

Bunny Lake's career stats: 47/93 lifetime 51% with 81of 93 lifetime in the money.

In three of her five seasons she took her seasonal mark at Woodbine.

She retired on October 9, the same day as Stroke Play, Four Starzzz Shark, Eternal Camnation and Windsongs Legacy. ALL FIVE retired the SAME day!!

How consistent was she as a filly-and then as a mare??
Filly earnings-$1,427,474    Mare earnings-$1,416,002

Career earnings second to only Eternal Camnation lifetime among pacing mares.

The last Horse of the Year still racing before her retirement, now Gallo Blue Chip is the only one.

She was the second three-year-old pacing filly to be named Horse of the year in 2001.  In 1981 Fan Hanover became the first.

She is the first female filly pacer to EVER hit the million $ mark at three, in 2001-$1,146,219. She won the only SCHEDULED match race in Meadowlands history, and is the ONLY female in history to win in 1:49 flat in back to back weeks.

Cat Manzi was the first driver to put a sub 1:50 mark on her, in 1:49.4, on July 13, 2002.
Her 16 career qualifiers-11-4-1. 22% of her career earnings ($584,146) are from the Breeders Crown; she got checks in all four she raced. 1-4-2-2.

Bunny Lake was bred by R. Peter Heffering, and had eight different drivers in her career.  John Stark, Jr., Cat Manzi, John Campbell, Luc Ouellette, Mike Lachance, Rod Allen, Mario Baillargeon, Brian Cross.

The two biggest pots she ever raced for--she won-$812,292 Breeders Crown 2001, and the 2001 Mistletoe Shalee for $400,000.

She raced at 16 different racetracks, winning at 14 of them. The only two she did NOT? Hazel Park and Mohawk. It is particularly interesting that she did NOT win at Mohawk, her slate is 12 0-6-2 with 11 checks and $192,141.

Bunny Lake was also the one season all-time money leader for a three-year-old pacing filly until Rainbow Blue went past her in the Matron. $1,146,219 in 2001-Rainbow Blue $1.175 million.
