Holburn Hanover Wins Big M Open

December 9, 2007

Holborn Hanover was victorious in the $46,500 Open Pace Saturday at the Meadowlands.

As the gate opened, Jilliby Generator (Brian Sears) made front in :26.1, followed by South Park Hanover (Dan Dube) in the pocket. George Brennan had Holborn Hanover away in third and they made a backside brush to the front before the :53.1 half, but were soon under siege from Mypanmar (Tim Tetrick) who cleared to the lead.

Mypanmar rolled through a blistering three-quarters of 1:21 as Fox Valley Tribal (Ron Pierce) came first-over but was unable to advance, stalling the backfield. Into the stretch, Brennan popped the pocket with Holborn Hanover and under a heavy drive, they held off a rail-skimming Jilliby Generator by a head in 1:49.2. South Park Hanover took a shuffle but closed hard to finish third.

Holborn Hanover is trained by Bruce Saunders for partners John Fielding and Canamerica Capital Corp. It was the fifth win on the season, increasing his bankroll to $176,865. Lifetime, the pacer has 27 victories and earnings of $2,159,222.
