May 2, 1988 – Kingwood Tog, Jack Des Rivieres, and H F Elaine finish in a triple dead heat to win at Hippodrome Trois Rivieres.

May 3, 1996 – Riyadh wins a leg of the Graduate Series in 1:53.4 at Foxboro Park in Massachusetts.

May 4, 1948 – Hall of Fame driver Bill O’Donnell is born in Springhill, Nova Scotia.

– Hambletonian, the most important American Standardbred sire in history and the horse for which harness racing’s top race for trotters is named, is born.

– Dragon Again wins the McLoone Cup in 1:51.3 at Freehold Raceway in New Jersey.

May 7, 2002 – Jeff Gregory reaches win No. 3,000 by driving Mack Mcgwire to victory at Freehold Raceway in New Jersey.

May 8, 1993 – Presidential Ball wins the Miller Memorial at Rosecroft Raceway in Maryland.

May 9, 2001 – Cam Fella, who was Horse of the Year in 1982 and 1983, dies at the Kentucky Horse Park.

May 10, 1998 – Ultimate Falcon sets the world record for pacing horses on a larger than one-mile track, winning in 1:47.4 at Colonial Downs in Virginia.

May 11, 1996 – Ball And Chain wins the Graduate in 1:52.2 at the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey and becomes the only back-to-back winner in the race’s history.

May 12, 1990 – Jake And Elwood wins the Windy City Pace in 1:57.2 at Maywood Park in Illinois.

May 13, 1980 – Fulla Promise, Quite Guy, and Ron finish in a dead heat for win at Pocono Downs in Pennsylvania.
