Six freshman tests were held over the weekend at Balmoral Park, beginning Saturday night with pacing events for both sexes. Latte Lady scored for driver Dale Hiteman in 1:55 in the first of two $32,800 Hanover pace for freshman filliles, pacing her final panel in :27.4 for trainer Joe Seekman. It was the lifetime debut for the daughter of Jenna’s Beach Boy-She’s The Greatest.

The second division was captured by Chotat Milk and driver Brett Miller, who also won in 1:55. Trained by Virgil Morgan, Jr., the daughter of Jate Lobell used a :26.2 final panel to best her seven rivals for her West Virginia and Ohio connections.

Lexington Legend won in wire-to-wire fashion in the first of two Hanovers for colts and geldings for driver Dave Magee. The son of Jate Lobell was timed in 1:53.2 for the mile test as the public’s favorite. Chevie Cash took the other division in 1:53.1, winning by nearly three lengths over his rivals for driver Dale Hiteman and trainer Ronnie Guhy. The victory was the Cole Muffler colt’s fourth victory in as many tries this year.

Sunday night a field of 12 two-year-old trotting fillies went postward in the $44,400 Hanover freshman stake. Minnesota Chelsea and driver-trainer Douglas R. Ackerman did not disappoint their backers after using a two-hole trip behind Arcola to win by a neck in 1:58.4. The daughter of Credit Winner won her second lifetime start using a :28.4 final brush.

In the $41,100 colt division American Jones and trainer-driver Charlie Norris scored from the rail, using a perfect trip to win in 2:01.1 by nearly two lengths over Ratehike.
