USHWA Hall of Famers

September 24, 2007

In the recent voting for prospective members of the Living Hall of Fame and the Communicators Corner, the four candidates were voted in:

CHUCK COON, the master track construction and maintenance man who gave the sport many of the ideas about track composition that it holds today, along with sons to carry on his pioneering work;

LOU GUIDA, who brought big money into harness racing ownership in the 80s and onward, campaigned many champion horses, and did it with his own unique brand of confidence and quotable comments;

ALAN PRINCE, former columnist for the Miami Herald, and noted (and respected) for his prudence as USHWA treasurer for many years; and MURRAY JANOFF, major newspaper columnist during the beginnings and heyday of the sport near New York City, and at 92 the sole remaining founder of USHWA.

These four gentlemen will be among the honorees at two major functions: the USHWA Annual Awards Banquet, to be held on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Dover Downs, and over the Fourth of July weekend in formal inductions ceremonies at the Hall of Fame and Harness Racing Museum.
