January 3, 1998 – Red Bow Tie, driven by John Campbell, wins the first leg of the Presidential Series in 1:51.2 at The Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey.

January 5, 2003 – Rick Zeron wins his 5,000^th race, driving Golden Dol to victory at Woodbine Racetrack near Toronto.

January 7, 1979 – Bill O’Donnell wins seven races at Saratoga Harness in Saratoga Springs, New York, falling one victory shy of Herve Filion’s record for most wins on a single card.

January 8, 1993 – Shady Daisy, driven by Ron Pierce, and Delinquent Account, driven by Bill O'Donnell, win divisions of the Cape & Cutter Pace at The Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey.

January 9, 1988 – Dragon's Lair wins a leg of the Presidential Series in 1:53.4 and Nadia Lobell takes a leg of the Cape & Cutter in 1:55.4 at The Meadowlands Racetrack.

January 10, 1998 – David Miller wins nine races at Northfield Park near Cleveland, Ohio, equaling a record shared by three other drivers for most victories on a single card.

January 11, 1978 – Rapid Canny, Royal Ricks Way, and James Gem finish in a triple dead heat for win at Bay Meadows in California.

January 12, 1996 – Kiwi Loch, Easy Guess, and Paula’s Pride finish in a triple dead heat for win at Los Alamitos Racecourse in California.

January 13, 1979 – The Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey sees its slowest race (2:12.4) and slowest card (average win time 2:09.3) ever. The track was sloppy for race one, and labeled slow for races two through 10. Murrays Worry and Jeremys Brigade tied for the fastest win time of the night, 2:07.2.

January 14, 2000 – Camotion, driven by Randy Waples, wins the Count B Pacing Series final in 1:54.3 at Mohawk Racetrack in Ontario.

January 15, 1988 – Nadia Lobell wins a leg of the Cape & Cutter series in 1:57.2 at The Meadowlands in New Jersey.

January 16, 1949 – Harness racing returns to Sportman's Park in Phoenix after a 20-year absence. An estimated 7,500 fans turn out for the opening of the first winter night meeting.

January 16, 2002 – Damon Runyon, driven by David Ingraham, sets a track record for older trotting geldings by winning in 1:54.4 at Pompano Park in Florida.

January 17, 1986 – Mickey McNichol, driving Loubred AJ, and Debbie Evilsizor, driving Bowers Hanover, finish in a dead heat for win at Pompano Park in Florida. The time of 1:57.4 is the fastest-ever dead-heat win between a male and female driver.

January 18, 1980 – Harold Stead drives two horses that finish in dead heats for wins at Greenwood Raceway in Toronto.

January 19, 1992 – Billyjojimbob, driven by Murray Brethour, wins the Horsemen's Trotting Series final in 1:59.2 at Greenwood Raceway in Toronto en route to 12 wins in his first 13 starts of the year.

January 20, 1998 – Kates Nuke, driven by Bill O'Donnell, wins the Chill Factor in 1:54 at The Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey.

January 21, 1997 – Broadcast, driven by John Campbell, wins the Chill Factor in 1:52.4 at The Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey.

January 22, 1989 – Go Get Lost wins the Horsemen’s Trotting Series final in 1:56.3 at Greenwood Raceway in Toronto, Ontario.

January 23, 1999 – Red Bow Tie, driven by Luc Ouellette, wins the Presidential final at The Meadowlands Racetrack in 1:50.2, eclipsing the stakes record he equaled in 1998, and becoming the only back-to-back winner of the race.

January 24, 1993 – Bankruptcy, driven by Bill O'Donnell, wins the Chill Factor final in a then-stakes record 1:53.2 at The Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey.

January 25, 2003 – Gallo Blue Chip, driven by Daniel Dube, becomes harness racing’s first $4 million pacer by winning the Presidential final at The Meadowlands.

January 26, 1996 – Ellamony, driven by Ron Waples, wins the Cape & Cutter in 1:54.1 at The Meadowlands.

January 27, 1979 – Keith Linton wins six consecutive races at Cloverdale Raceway in Surrey, British Columbia, falling one win shy of Augustine Ratchford’s record for most dash victories on a card.

January 28, 1995 – JC’s Suprimo, driven by Ron Pierce, wins the Presidential final in 1:51.3 at 24-1 at The Meadowlands.

January 29, 1995 – Island Glow, driven by Luc Ouellette, wins the Whizzer White in 1:53.3 at Hawthorne Racecourse in Illinois.

January 30, 1999 – Eddie Davis becomes the 10^th driver in North American harness racing history to win 7,000 races, driving Telamon to victory at Dover Downs in Delaware.
