July 2, 1981 – JEFs Eternity wins the Mistletoe Shalee in 1:56.2 over Fan Hanover at the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey.

July 3, 1988 – Runnymede Lobell wins the Cane Pace in 1:55.2 at Yonkers Raceway in New York.

July 4, 1986 – Falcon Seelster sets the world record for pacing on a five-eighths of a mile track, winning in 1:51.3 at the Meadows.

July 5, 1913 – Hall of Famer Delvin Miller is born in Woodland, California. Harness racing experts name Miller the sport's most influential person of the 20th century.

July 6, 1996 – Continentalvictory wins the Yonkers Trot by two lengths over Kramer Boy in 1:56.2 at Yonkers Raceway.

July 7, 1986 – Nearly Perfect sets the world record for 4-year-olds trotting on a mile track, winning in 1:54 at the Meadowlands in New Jersey.

July 8, 1989 – Matt’s Scooter wins the Governor Alfred E. Driscoll Pace (now William Haughton Memorial) in 1:50.1 at the Meadowlands.

July 8, 1994 – Beat The Wheel wins in 1:51.4 over Pine Chip at the Meadowlands, breaking Mack Lobell’s seven-year-old trotting world record.

July 8, 1995 – CR Kay Suzie wins the Yonkers Trot in 1:56 at Yonkers Raceway in New York and equals the world record for 3-year-old filly trotters on a half-mile track.

July 9, 1999 – Lovelytobehold wins the Delvin Miller Memorial in 1:54.3 at the Meadowlands.

July 10, 1992 – Carlsbad Cam wins the Meadowlands Pace in 1:51 at the Meadowlands.

July 11, 1916 – Champion pacer Dan Patch dies. His owner, M.W. Savage, dies the next day.

July 11, 1976 – Meadow Blue Chip sets the world record for female pacers on a five-eighths of a mile track by winning in 1:55.1 at Brandywine Raceway in Delaware.

July 12, 1977 – Escort wins the inaugural Meadowlands Pace in 1:54.4 at the Meadowlands.

July 13, 1991 – Crown's Invitation wins the Yonkers Trot in 1:59.3 at Yonkers Raceway.

July 14, 2000 – Sammie's Girl wins the Delvin Miller Memorial for 3-year-old filly trotters in 1:56 at the Meadowlands and pays a stakes record $80.20 to win.

July 15, 1965 – Pocono Downs opens near Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, with more than 12,000 fans in attendance.

July 16, 1874 – Goldsmith Maid lowers the trotting world record to 2:16-1/2 at East Saginaw, Michigan, then drops the mark to 2:16 in the following heat of the day.

July 16, 1955 – Adios Harry equals Billy Direct’s pacing world record by finishing a time trial in 1:55 at Vernon Downs in New York.

July 17, 1988 – Firm Tribute wins the Founders Gold Cup for 3-year-old trotters at Vernon Downs.

July 18, 1986 – Laughs wins the Meadowlands Pace for 3-year-old pacers in 1:52.1 at the Meadowlands.

July 19, 1979 – Sonsom wins the Meadowlands Pace from post 10 in a world record 1:53.2.

July 20, 1984 – Bobbo sets the world record for gelding trotters on a half-mile track, winning in 1:58.2 at Yonkers Raceway in New York.

July 21, 1978 – Passing Glance sets the world record for 3-year-old filly pacers on a five-eighths mile track by winning in 1:56.2 at the Meadows in Pennsylvania.

July 22, 1924 – Margaret Spangler wins the first American Pacing Derby at Kalamazoo, Michigan.

July 22, 1995 – Luc Ouellette wins nine races at Yonkers Raceway in New York.

July 23, 1932 – Hall of Fame trainer-driver Buddy Gilmour is born in Ontario.

July 23, 1990 – Caesars Jackpot wins the Roses Are Red for female pacers in 1:52.4 at Greenwood Raceway in Toronto.

July 24, 1993 – Staying Together wins the U.S. Pacing Championship leg at Sportsman’s Park in Chicago in a track record 1:50.2.

July 25, 1927 – Hall of Fame trainer-driver Stanley Dancer is born in Edinburg, New Jersey.

July 25, 1988 – Mack Lobell wins the Nat Ray Invitational Trot in 1:55.1 at the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey.

July 26, 1959 – Pat Kuno wins at Laviolette Raceway in Quebec and pays a then-record $1,120 to win.

July 27, 1980 – Lindy’s Crown sets the world record for trotting on a five-eighths mile track by winning in 1:57.1 at Brandywine Raceway in Delaware.

July 27, 2001 – SJ’s Caviar equals the world record for 3-year-old trotters on a five-eighths mile track by winning in 1:54.1 at Pocono Downs in Pennsylvania.
