HHYF Scholarships Awarded

Established in 1976, the Harness Horse Youth Foundation addresses youth education through out the United States and Canada. A charitable organization, the HHYF continues to enlarge and improve its programs, and gives out five annual scholarships to those persons involved in harness racing.
Ariana Peluso from White Lake, New York, is the 2006 recipient of the $15,000 Gallo Blue Chip Scholarship. Peluso is currently studying Animal Science at Cornell University and hopes to become an equine veterinarian. She will receive her check in conjunction with a celebratory dinner hosted by scholarship sponsor Martin Scharf at The Meadowlands Racetrack on December 2.
University of Guelph freshman, Natalie Graham, from Lynden, Ontario is pursuing a degree in veterinary medicine and is the recipient of the $2,500 Curt Greene Memorial Scholarship.
Matthew Howard, Michael Coyle, and James Waddilove each received scholarships named in memory of Vincent Abate. Howard, who received a $5,000 scholarship, is attending Rutgers University and is majoring in business. Coyle, also at Rutgers University and studying engineering, received $1,000. Waddilove also received a $1,000 scholarship. He is attending Wilkes University and is studying criminal justice. Hillview Enterprises sponsors the Abate Memorial Scholarship.
