Grey is Good!!!
August 4, 2005
On closing day, Saturday August 6--Hambletonian Day--in the $35,500 5th race, for winners over, 9-Year-Old Admiral's Express is making his Meadowlands DEBUT!! That is right, the winner of $1.259 million has NEVER raced in East Rutherford before, and his 61 wins in 235 career tries have all been either in Michigan or at Mohawk/Woodbine. Admiral's Express is the ALL-TIME leader in Canada in sub 1:50 winning miles-EVER!-with 7, with another 7 times timed in under 1:50. He is the fastest grey in the history of the sport at 1:48.2 and the richest. He is also the fastest nine-year-old ever, with his 1:48.2 mark taken this year. A son of Admirals Galley-who raced here at the Meadowlands for trainer Richie Johnson, Paul MacDonnell is his regular driver and will be in the bike for the assignment. Can you remember who the FIRST horse was to come to the Meadowlands and race--ALREADY with a Million dollstd on his card?? It was 1989 Runnymede Lobell, the 1988 North America Cup winner.
