Harness Racing Museum is now Free!
May 1, 2007
The Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame in Goshen, New York will offer free general admission every day, effective May 1. The announcement was made jointly today by Elbridge Gerry Jr., president of the Museum and Phil Langley, president of the US Trotting Association (USTA).
"The move to free admission is a wonderful gift to present and future harness racing fans and we're able to do this because of the USTA's recently increased support," says Gerry. "Also, we have a very loyal membership base, which contributes to this exciting change."
"The museum is a vibrant, exciting place and the USTA wants to help make sure it's seen and enjoyed by a wide audience," says Phil Langley. "We were the underwriters of the 3-D harness race simulation theater, one of the museum's most popular attractions and hope that providing free admission will allow even more people to experience the excitement of the sport."
The Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame is located at 240 Main Street, Goshen, NY, www.harnessmuseum.com, 845-294-6330, about 60 miles from New York City. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Free general admission will be extended to all ages at all times; this includes bus tour patrons (with advance reservation). Special programming, such as workshops, education department classes and tours that include scout patch programs and children's parties, will continue to require a fee.
