Gold Dust Beach Smokes at Dover

April 3, 2007

Gold Dust Beach broke one of the longest standing World Records when he smoked to a 1:49 victory in the $37,500 Preferred pace at Dover Downs on Monday. With Dave Miller doing the navigating, the five-year-old son of Jennas Beach Boy shot to immediate command and never looked back through panels of :27, :54.1 and 1:21.3 en route to the 1:49 decision over Sharky Osbourne (Brian Sears) and Lather Machine (Tim Tetrick).

The clocking shaved a fifth of a second off the former mark held jointly by Riyadh (1996) and Cam Knows Best (2000). Joe Holloway trains the homebred for L And L DeVisser LLC of Holland, Michigan. The victory marked the third win of the season in nine starts for Gold Dust Beach, who upped this year's earnings to $82,400 and his career total to $483,570.
