Pierce Steers Winners of Both Fox Sports Net Divisions

and Real Hanover scored a mild upset in the first (race 5) of two $19,000 divisions of the Fox Sports Net series for three and four-year-old pacers. The Rodney Bolon-trained son of Western Hanover picked up his first win of the year for owner James Snyder of Wooster, Ohio. Secret Weapon was second and favorite Apache Hotspur was third. Real Hanover stopped the timer in 1:51.1, after the pace-setting Apache Hotspur rattled off fractions of :27, :55, and 1:23.3.

Pierce then scored with South Park Hanover in the eighth race. He coaxed the four-year-old son of Artsplace to a head victory over Ideally Magic with Austin’s Best was third.
South Park Hanover, trained by Charles Connor Jr., paced the mile in 1:51.3, picking up his second win in three starts this year. Connor shares ownership in the pacer with Ted Gewertz of New York City and Milton and Martha Frank of Fair Lawn, New Jersey.

The three-week Fox Sports Net Series continues next week with a $43,315 final on April 20.
