Mr Muscleman Wins Father Foley Opener

April 22, 2007

Mr. Muscleman returned to the track in winning fashion, capturing the $20,000 opening leg of the Father Foley Memorial series Sunday at the Meadowlands.

Trained by Noel Daley and driven by Ron Pierce, Mr. Muscleman took control of the lead around the backside and held off San Remo Kosmos at the wire to win by a half-length in 1:53.3. It was two lengths back to Man About Town in third.

Mr. Muscleman, the richest Standardbred racehorse in training with a career bankroll of $3.38 million, had his 2005 season cut short after a suspensory injury and was sidelined after a brief campaign last year due to concerns with his knee.
Owners Adam Victor Jr. and Sr. are hoping for the opportunity to take the seven-year-old gelded son of Muscles Yankee overseas next month to compete in Sweden’s famed Elitlopp at Solvalla Racecourse.

Mr Muscleman Invited to Elitlopp
Mr Muscleman has officially been invited to race in the Elitlopp on Sunday, May 27. Solvalla Racetrack's racing manager Mattias Stenby says that three horses have been invited to the big race thus far. In addition to Mr Muscleman the other two horses are the Swedish Gentleman and Acclaim who finished first and second in Saturday's spectacular Olympic Trot in Gothenburg, Sweden.
