Trotters Battle in Father Foley Splits

Dunkster and Dink Adoo each won a $20,000 opening round division of the three-week Father Foley Memorial Trot on Sunday afternoon at the Meadowlands. In the first division, Dunkster led at every call and held off Musclesextrodinair for a length and a quarter victory in 1:54.1 on a track rated sloppy. Lhasa Muscles closed for third.

Dunkster, trained and driven by Kurt Sugg, races for Dean Davis of Wooster, Ohio. He now has eight wins, two seconds and one third from 11 starts this year. Lifetime, the seven-year-old chestnut son of Striking Sahbra has earned in excess of $515,000.

Dink Adoo closed from off the pace to win by a length and a quarter over Mr Dream OM in 1:54.4 in the second division. War Paint was two and a half lengths back in third. Dink Adoo, driven by Brian Sears and trained by Ken Rucker, posted his fourth win with three seconds and one third in eight starts this year. The seven-year-old Inquirer gelding has nearly $450,000 in lifetime earnings and is owned by the Panhellenic Stable Corporation of Long Island City, New York. The Father Foley $45,840 final is on May 7.
