The Skinny: Cabrini Hanover overcame an uncharacteristic break at the start of the $681,100 Fan Hanover Stakes to come back and emerge victorious in 1:52.1 for driver Brian Sears. Sent postward the 7-5 favorite, Cabrini Hanover--last year's juvenile champion filly in Canada--powered down the middle of the track, reaching the wire one and one-quarter lengths in front of Bound For Glory. This year, the daughter of Western Ideal-Cathedra, who was a $350,000 yearling purchase, had taken four of her eight starts, with two seconds and two thirds. She came into the Fan Hanover off a gutsy victory in her elim. Cabrini Hanover, whose half-sister, Cathedra Dot Com, won the 2001 Fan Hanover, joins such luminaries as Immortality, Shes A Great Lady, Eternal Camnation and Rainbow Blue as past Fan Hanover winners. With the $340,050 winner's check, Cabrini Hanover boosted her career bankroll to $1,031,770.
