False Alarm Is Third In Maywood Test Friday night July 2, 2004 by Kimberly A. Rinker
Odds On Racing's False Alarm finished a solid third Friday night, July 2 for driver Tim Tetrick. The seven-year-old son of Matt's Scooter had the four-hole in the field of six conditioned pacers, all of whom were vying for a purse of $8,000 in Maywood's second race of the night.
False Alarm left hard from his spot on the gate and led the field to a first quarter clocking of :26.4, then quickly relinquished his lead to the challenging Visitor Parking (Tony Morgan), who then led the field through fractions of :55 and 1:23.4. Turning for home False Alarm and rival Fresh Ingrediate both made a valid attempt to best the leader, but Visitor Parking was able to hold on by a nose to win the race in 1:53.2 over Fresh Ingredient. False Alarm was beaten only a neck in the blanket photo finish.
The third-place finish pushed False Alarm's seasonal earnings to $36,470, and he is now 2-0-2 from ten starts in 2004. He also upped his lifetime earnings to $694,876.
