Falcon Almahurst Dead

Falcon Almahurst died Sunday, August 21 at the age of 30 at Autumn Breeze Farm in Delaware County, Ohio. He won the 1978 $560,000 Meadowlands Pace, the first time a Standardbred race was contested for more than a half-million dollars. Owner Charlie Hill retired Falcon Almahurst at the end of his three-year-old career and he was a dominant stallion in Ohio, siring 116 pacers with 1:55 or better marks, including million dollar winning mare Stienam and Little Brown Jug winner BJ Scoot. He retired from stud duty in 1999 and lived out his retirement at Autumn Breeze Farm.
