Easy Does It

June 11, 2007

Quite Easy, who is among the top-ranked trotters in the Meadowlands Racetrack’s “Road to the Hambletonian” ratings, is less than 100 percent after winning his Goodtimes elimination race over the weekend.

After the race, which Quite Easy won in 1:56 by a length and a half, Takter said the colt, "... scoped sick, he was full of mucous, but hopefully he's going to get cleared up by Saturday. When they ship up there (to Canada) a lot of times, they get hit by something.”

Takter, whose wife Christina is part of the Quite Easy Stable, said that John Campbell will once again drive the son of Andover Hall, as he has every start this year.

"He's good looking horse; a really handsome horse," Takter said of the $125,000 yearling purchase out of the $666,731 stakes-winning mare Marita's Victory. "He's a lot stronger and more mature than last year. He did a good race, but John noticed that he didn't exactly have as good a punch as he had in a qualifier.”

Campbell drove him to victory in a May 17 tune-up at the Meadowlands in 1:54.4 and was second the following week to Donato Hanover in 1:55.1.

Quite Easy turned in 2006 stakes wins in the International Stallion Stakes at Lexington's Red Mile, the Wellwood Memorial Elimination and Champlain at Mohawk, and Tompkins-Geers at Tioga Downs.
