Odds On Racing's
Driver of the Month for January 2010
Jody Jamieson
Driver Jody Jamieson has come a long way since he drove his first four horses in 1994.
On December 10, 2009, Jody became the leading single-season Canadian dash-winning harness driver of all time, with a six-win performance at Flamboro Downs. The Cambridge native entered the day four wins shy of the previous mark of 739 set by fellow reinsman Mark MacDonald in 2006.
Jamieson captured his second consecutive Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) driver's title and is a leading candidate for O'Brien Award honors as Canada's Driver Of The Year.

Jody Jamieson, his father and daughter celebrate after he won the 2007 North America Cup
|
Born into a harness racing family, Jamieson, 33, is the son of trainer Carl Jamieson--who conditions horses mostly on the Ontario racing circuit. His mother Debbie and sister Brandy both serve as caretakers and assitant trainers in the family business.
This third generation horseman accomplished a lot in the sulky at an early age. Jamieson’s first pari-mutuel win came with O’Brien Award winner Elegant Killean and he has also piloted such distinguished performers as RJs Dexter and Memories Any Size (both of whom were Canadian Breeders Championship victors), and Cupcakesnwhipcream, another past recipient of an O’Brien Award.
In 2001 he represented Canada in the World Driving Championship in Finland and Sweden, and won the competition. He was also runner-up in the 2003 competition, hosted by Canada. Jamieson celebrates his 2007 Jug victory
Jamieson won his first Lampman Cup (as the leading driver in the Ontario Sires Stakes program) in the 2000 season, a year in which his 372 wins allowed him to crack the top 20 in the North American dash winners standings (he was 19th).
In 2004, Jamieson recorded his 2,000th win, won the Battle of Waterloo with Banner Yankee at Grand River Raceway and led Canada with 505 wins. Jamieson also earned his second Lampman Cup in 2004, as the leading driver in the O.S.S. (his first came in 2000), and that same year was nominated for an O’Brien Award as Canada’s driver of the year, but was edged out by Luc Ouellette.
He notched 584 victories on Canadian soil in 2005, second only to Canada's leading driver that year, Mark MacDonald.
2007 was one of his finest years ever, as Jody's partnership with Tell All saw him capture some of harness racing's most prestigious events on both Canadian and American soil, including the Little Brown Jug and the North America Cup.
