Odds On Racing's

Driver of the Month
for August 2005

Jack Moiseyev

Jack Moiseyev, 45,  followed his father Sid, into the world of harness racing.  Jack drove his first winner in 1977 at Brandywine Raceway and since then has held the leading driver crown at Garden State, Freehold, and the Meadowlands.  His best season came in 1991 when he led all North American drivers in both money earnings ($9.5+ million) and wins (769).

Over the years the Clarksburg, New Jersey native has piloted some of harness racing top pacers and trotters, and most recently, was partnered with Foals Goal, winning the Breeders Crown in back-to-back seasons (2002 & 2003).

Jack's career got underway when he was only 17. He started by working with his father Sid at Brandywine Raceway, then shifted his colors to Freehold at age18, where he drove nearly all of his father's stock.

Jack has won some of harness racing's most prestigious events, including the 1991 Hambletonian with Giant Victory and the Meadowland's Pace with 1991 Horse of the Year Precious Bunny (he also won the Little Brown Jug, the Adios and the Breeders Crown with "Bunny").  Jack was also the regular pilot behind Presidential Ball and Pacific Rocket. He won the 1992 Metro Pace with Presidential Ball.

Jack was named the 1993 Harness Tracks of America top driver, and won the Windy City Pace three times in the 1990s (with Precious Bunny in 1991, with Presidential Ball in 1993 and with Pacific Rocket in 1994).  Jack also shares the spotlight with both John Campbell (1986) and Cat Manzi (2004) of winning eight races on a single card in one day at Freehold Raceway.

In 2004 Jack made the move to the Canadian circuit from his regular base at The Meadowlands, and the decision to do so proved to be the right move for him, as he piloted the winners of $1.6+ million, the 19th consecutive year he earned over $1 million.

Most recently, this talented reinsman joined the likes of Cat Manzi ($106 million), John Campbell ($231.5 million), Luc Ouellete ($101 million) and Mike Lachance $165 million) as the only drivers to have earned over $100 million in career purses. That happened when "Jackie Mo" piloted Ponder to a strong, off-the-pace victory in the $831,000 Canadian Pacing Derby on June 25th at Mohawk Raceway in 1:49.2.  It was the 63rd edition of Canada's oldest harness stake.
