Tetrick Breaks Earnings Mark
Tim Tetrick broke the single season earnings mark for a North American harness driver with a victory in the 15th race Tuesday night, Nov. 6, at Dover Downs.

Tetrick achieved this milestone behind Norman Bell's Price Check in an $8,000 filly and mare conditioned pace. The $4,000 earned by the 6-year-old improved Tetrick's 2007 bankroll to $15,088,714---$2,721 more than the old record of $15,085,992 set by Brian Sears in 2005.

The victory was one of five for Tetrick on the 15-race program at Dover.

Campbell Nears Milestone
Hall of Fame driver John Campbell needs $760,502 to reach $250 million in lifetime purse earnings. The 52-year-old New Jersey resident, originally from Ontario, counts six Hambletonian wins among the numerous records accumulated during his career.

Other accomplishments include the most victories in the Breeders Crown series (41), Messenger Stakes (8), Meadowlands Pace (7), North America Cup (6), and Cane Pace (5).

In 1990, at the age of 35, Campbell became the youngest person elected to the Harness Racing Hall of Fame. He ranks first in all-time earnings, leading second-place Mike Lachance by nearly $76 million.

Campbell’s average of $4,679 earnings per lifetime start is $1,837 better than second-place Ron Pierce among drivers with at least $50 million. The difference between first and second is greater than the difference between second (Pierce at $2,842) and 28th place (Dale Hiteman at $1,022).

Campbell led the North American standings in yearly purses 16 times and finished second seven times. He is seventh this year, with $8.6 million; he has finished in the top seven in 27 of the last 28 years.
