Del Chupp Scores 1,000th Career Victory

Driver Del Chupp scored his 1,000th career victory on Monday night, March 21st en route to winning the $10,000 Newcomer Series Final with the horse Nasty Nicky in 1:56.3 at Maywood Park.

“I’m glad it came here because this is the track where I’ve had most of my 1,000 wins,” Chupp said in the winner’s circle. “I’ve always preferred to drive at Maywood.”

The 40-year-old Beecher resident began driving in 1990, and has piloted the winners of over $7.3 million to date. He's had three $1 million dollar seasons, in 1999, 2000 and 2002, and is originally from Goshen, Indiana.
