Miller to Ohio Hall of Fame

January 12, 2010

David Miller, who has been one of North America’s top drivers for more than a decade, was selected as the 36th inductee into the Ohio Harness Racing Hall of Fame by the Ohio Chapter of the U.S. Harness Writers Association. The Columbus, Ohio, native dominated racing in his home state, winning the Scioto Downs driving title from 1991-98 and led the sire stakes circuit from 1992-98. “It’s nice to be recognized like that,” Miller said. “It’s nice to be thought of in that way. I drove some really nice horse when I was there and I have a lot of good memories there. It’s home.”

Miller, 45, moved to the East Coast in 1999. He guided No Pan Intended to the Pacing Triple Crown and Horse of the Year honors in 2003 and was one of just two drivers, joining Ron Pierce, to earn more than $100 million from 2000-09. Among his top careers wins are nine Breeders Crowns and two Little Brown Jugs.

Entering Monday, Miller had won 9,274 lifetime races and earned $130.6 million. He ranks fifth in history in career earnings. Miller, who lives in Cream Ridge, N.J., will be honored at the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association banquet on Jan. 16.
