David Carr

Take a person with a brilliant mind and a love of harness racing, plus an affinity for numbers and statistics and you've just described the USTA's invaluable David Carr.

David Carr

David joined the USTA in 1982 as an assistant in the public relations office and also as a writer for Hoof Beats.  It was David who initiated the USTA's current Information and Research office in 1985, of which he is currently department Director.

Since that time, David and his staff have created one of the USTA's most important datatbases of racing and breeding information.  The result has been that he and his staff are able to reach more analytical conclusions from their data than almost anyone else in the sport of harness racing.

David also maintains the world-record list published by the USTA, which recognizes the sport's top performers--a source of pride for horse and stallion owners everywhere who are anxious to advertise those exploits.

Dean Hoffman, David's former boss at the USTA, put it best:  "In David, I hired a person with not only brains but with an unmatched work ethic.  That's a winning combination."

For his countless contributions to harness racing, David was awarded the prestigious Messenger Award--Harness Tracks Of America's highest Honor, in 2009.
