Drivers Palone and Wilder Reach Milestones
August 1, 2006
Dave Palone moved into third, all-time, in terms of wins by drivers in North America Saturday night, July 29 at The Meadows Raceway. He passed Walter Case, Jr. in the 13th race, while driving Doinks Believer, a horse trained by Palone’s brother, Mike. Palone won a total of five races on the 14-race program. Palone now trails only Cat Manzi (11,826) and Herve Filion (15,152).
Mike Wilder, 34, got his 4,000th career driving victory this past Friday, July 28 also at the Meadows, while driving Out Of The West to victory in the ninth race. Wilder came to the Meadows in 2001 after having driven primarily in Ohio, at Northfield Park, Lebanon Raceway, and Scioto Downs. He had immediate success at the Meadows after having driven for most of his career on half-mile racetracks. Wilder is currently third in wins and in earnings amongst Meadows drivers in 2006. He resides in Houston, Penn. with his wife, Heather, and his two daughters.
