Auction Raises Nearly $10,000 for Knox Children's Fund An auction at Maywood Park on Friday, July 9, 2004 of a BlackJack Sulky saw the proceeds donated to an education fund set up for the children of Dan Knox who passed away last month. Driver Tony Morgan took the first high bid of $3,300 for the sulky, then donated it back to be auctioned off again. Driver Eric Ledford then had the high bid of $2,700 for the bike and donated it back to be re-bid on once more. Last but not least, trainer John Ziawatowski put forth a final bid of $2,500 to secure the race bike.
Knox Children's Fund Established
The Knox Children Education Trust Fund has been established in order to assist the young children of deceased driver Danny Knox. Memorial contributions may be sent to Balmoral Park, 26435 S. Dixie Hwy., Crete, IL 60417, or to the Illinois Harness Horsemen's Association, 15 Spinning Wheel Rd., Hinsdale, IL 60521.
