George Leon’s True North Hanover won the $178,000 Rolling Rock Cleveland Classic for three-year-old pacing colts in gate-to-wire fashion Saturday night, posting a 1:53.1 mile over a Northfield Park oval rated good after a day of rain.

Dave Palone rushed the 3-5 favorite to the front of the inside post position and posted a casual opening half of 57 seconds. He easily won the race by 6-¾ lengths over Winbak Dimensions who was parked on the outside through the entire mile. Sandro Hanover finished third. Mickey Burke, the leading trainer in North America, trains True North Hanover, a son of The Panderosa. The win was his eighth in fourteen starts this year and  the $89,000 winner’s share of the purse pushed his career earnings to $282,486.
