No Surprises in Cardinal Stake Elims Favorites Win in Maywood Dashes Friday Night
 Hot N Sporty strides out to win his Cardinal Elim for Tony Morgan
Friday, October 7, 2005 Heavy favorites My Boy David and Hot N Sporty both won their respective Cardinal eliminations for two-year-old state breds pacers Friday night at Maywood Park. In fact, both cut almost identical fractions to garner starting spots in the $65,000 Cardinal Final on October 14.
My Boy David was driven by Andy Miller for trainer Homer Hochstetler to a winning time of 1:54. I Believe Its True (Sam Widger) was second, while Fox Valley Cruiser (Mike Oosting) was third. Fourth place finisher Latte Tom also gained entrance to the final by virtue of his finish.
Hot N Sporty (Tony Morgan) got the lead after the first turn to win his Cardinal elim in 1:53.4 for trainer Jim Crebs. Joe Somebody was second while Fox Valley Piston (Dale Hiteman) nosed out Thisbigdogwillfight (Pat Berry) for the show spot. The top four youngsters advanced to next week's showdown.
My Boy David brings a first season bankroll of $153,499 into the confrontation for his owners Shirley Le Vin (Schaumburg, IL) and David Riff (Barrington Hills, IL), while Hot N Sporty will sport earnings of $123,972 for owners and breeders James and Donna Crebs of Cantrall, IL for the final.
