Driver-Trainer Brooke Nickells

Born into one of harness racing's most prestigious families, Lauren "Brooke" Nickells got her start under the watchful eye of her father, trainer-driver Bruce Nickells. A native of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Brooke was born in late December of 1971 and first began driving in Amatuer races in the early 1990s. Since that modest beginning Brooke has piloted 180 winners to over $1.3 million in earnings and was well-known for her successful under-saddle partnership with the trotter Preferential. She has also trained 169 winners to over $1.8 million in earnings.

As a driver this resident of Delray Beach, Florida had her best season in 2001, when she scored a 34-16-14 record from 137 starts, with $314,170 in earnings.  That year was also her most successful as a trainer, as she amassed totals of  40-17-16 from 180 starts, for $468,675 in purse money won.
