Illinois Breeders Help Katrina Victims
September 7, 2005
Saturday September 17th is Illinois' Super Night, the biggest night of the year in Illinois racing with approximately $1,500,000 in total purses being contested. It is a great opportunity for those of us involved with Illinois racing to showcase the very best we have to offer, and is also a great opportunity for us to share our blessings.
The Tim Wilson Farm, Fox Valley Standardbreds, and Cottonwood Farm, announced that they have pledged 100% of any breeder awards earned on Super Night to aid in the disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. Their collective breeder awards will be paid to the following four relief agencies – the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Samaritan’s Purse and World Vision.
Horses Need Assistance Too The American Horse Council Foundation is accepting donations to assist the needs of horse owners and their horses which were affected by Hurricane Katrina. The American Horse Council will determine where the funds will best be utilized to help these people and animals in need.
The American Horse Council Foundation is a Section 501(c)(3) organization under the internal revenue code. Contributions to it are tax-deductible as charitable contributions. If you have any questions or would like to make a donation, please call the American Horse Council Foundation at (202) 296-4031.
