"There's just no end to this filly," winning driver Ron Pierce said. "Down the stretch she was getting a little bored and so I spoke to her to keep her attention and she just cruised." Plans call for the filly to retire and rest for the season and to come back and race in 2006.
 Chocolatier gives a sweet victory to the Ackerman family in the $507,600 Breeders Crown Freshman Colt Trot. D.R. Ackerman is in the sulky for trainer/father Doug Ackerman --the oldest trainer at 78 to take home a Crown Trophy.

"This is a great sport and deserves a lot more attention than it receives." Belovedangel was sold just prior to the race for $300,000 to Audrey Campbell of Mississauga, Ont., co-owner of Rocknroll Hanover.

The win also was the 12th of the year for Rocknroll Hanover, the richest horse of 2005. "This horse is super right now," winning driver Brian Sears said. "He's an awesome horse and this is a memory I'll cherish forever," trainer Pelling said. "Winning here at my home track was just wonderful." Besides the Breeders Crown win Rocknroll Hanover captured The Meadowlands Pace and North America Cup, completing the year with 12 wins, four seconds and two thirds from 18 starts. He retires with 15 wins, five seconds and five thirds from 26 starts and earnings of $2,754,038.
One Final Note: Brian Sears ...became the new all time single season money earnings record holder with $1,067,251 in earnings on Breeders Crown night. Sears' earnings for 2005 are now $14.4 million. The previous record holder was John Campbell, with earnings of $14.1 million in 2001.
