Bikini Bottom Wins Blossom Leg at The Big M
April 12, 2006
Bikini Bottom may have entered the Blossom Series as a longshot, but two straight wins have stamped her the favorite heading into next week’s $70,790 final at the Meadowlands. In Wednesday night’s $22,500 second leg of the Blossom for three-year-old filly pacers, Bikini Bottom came first up on the final turn and drew off to a length and three-quarter victory in 1:53.1. Armbro Davina rallied late to finish second, with She’s Game third.
It was the third win in seven starts this season for Bikini Bottom, and her second start for trainer Mark Ford--she had captured the opening round of the Blossom Series on April 5 at odds of 30-1. The daughter of Cam’s Card Shark was bred by Jeffrey Eckburg of Rockford, Illinois, who sold an interest in her to Martin Scharf of Lawrence, New York, on March 2. Lifetime, Bikini Bottom has five wins and four second in 16 starts and $63,767 in earnings.
