More to come on this famous horse soon!

Billy Direct was a great free-legged pacer of the mid-1930s .

Billy Direct first began life as a stallion in 1941, and sired the winners of $3.2 million from 226 starters, 16 of whom paced in 2:00 or faster. His richest son was Dudley Hanover p,T1:57.4 ($214,820), who was also his third fastest get.  The mighty Tar Heel was his second fastest performer (p,4,T1:57 $119,148), behind Direct Rhythm, p, 1:56.1 ($171,802). Tar Heel was the only son of Billy Direct who had a direct impact on North American breeding.  Another of Billy Direct's sons, Garrison Hanover stole that honor in Australia and New Zealand.
