Big Names Qualify at The Big M Thursday

Thursday's qualifiers at the Meadowlands featured many top performers from last season. The event pitting last year’s arch rivals Passionate Glide and Queen Serene was won by the five-year-old Inquirer daughter Wildfire Julie who was home with four lengths to spare for David Miller whose wife Misty owns the mare.
Passionate Glide was second for Ron Pierce was Queen Serene and Trodd Smedshammer were fourth. The Camluck daughter Trim Hanover won her second straight qualifier, this time with a 1:55.4 effort for Tim Tetrick. Owned by Brittany Farms, the filly earned $81,000 last year at two.
Western Ace was a handy 10 length winner in his split for Ron Pierce and trainer George Teague. His stablemate Total Truth took the next event in 1:53.4 defeating Escapable Beaux. Last year’s winner of the million dollar Metro Final at Woodbine, Yankee Skyscaper, finished second in his qualifier to Whats Up Now timed in 1:52.3 in his three-year-old debut.
