At The Meadowlands This Week....

Sunday Afternoon
Mohammed Mali extended his winning streak to six with a length and a half victory in the second race, the first of three $20,000 divisions of the Horse & Groom Series, on Sunday afternoon at the Meadowlands. Mohammed Mali, driven by David Miller and trained by Mark Harder, trotted the mile in 1:55.2 and improved his 2004 record to six wins in seven starts.
Miller tipped him off the pylons on the turn for home and cleared to the lead in the stretch after following the cover of Nahcotta Jude.

Miss Fairfax, who had cut the fractions, held on for second. It was three and a quarter lengths to Sent From Above in third. HZ Easy's winning streak was snapped at four when he broke stride on the turn for home.

Mohammed Mali lifted his career bankroll to $94,540 for the partnership of D'Elegance Stable of Florham Park, New Jersey; Carmen Iannacone of Lyndhurst, New Jersey and the RCE Stable of Princeton, New Jersey.

The other two divisions, carded as races three and five, were won by longshots. Striking Rum, driven by Yannick Gingras, turned in a half-length tally over Final Legacy in 1:55.3, and Speed of Shogun driven by Brian Sears, held off Lhasa Muscles for a head victory in 1:56.   The $99,300 Horse & Groom Final is on March 13.



Saturday Night

Live Out Loud, who swept the three-week Aquarius Series, extended his winning streak to four with a half-length victory in the fifth race, a $35,500 four-year-old open pace, on Saturday night at the Meadowlands.
The gelded son of Art's Conquest paced a lifetime best 1:49.4 for the mile.


Live Out Loud, trained and driven by Patrick Lachance, caught Skydancer Hanover in the final 40 yards for his fourth win in seven starts.  Last week he won the $78,250 Aquarius Series Final.  He has a career bankroll of $336,314 for M&M Harness Racing of Suffern, New York and David McCaffrey of Burr Ridge, Illinois.  
You Rock got up for third, six lengths back.

     
In the co-featured tenth race, the $47,500 open pace, Art's Cam extended his winning streak to six with a length and a half victory over Canyon Wind in 1:50.1.  Sagebrush was third by a length and three-quarters. 
Art's Cam, driven by Daniel Dube and trained by Chris Oaks, has now won six of seven starts this year, working his way up from the claiming ranks to the top class at the track.  He now has 12 wins, 7 seconds and 5 thirds from 41 career starts, earning $171,295 for Susan Oakes of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania; William Kenyon II of Lockport, New York and George Alter of Fairport, New York.


Friday Night
Stonebridge Kisses got up in the final stride to catch Feathery Fame in the fifth race, the $42,500 mares open pace, on Friday night at the Meadowlands. A head separated the two mares on the wire. It was a length and a quarter to Jet Lag N in third. Driven by Yannick Gingras and trained by Mark Ford, Stonebridge Kisses picked up her second straight victory and has won four of six starts in 2005.  The five-year-old daughter of Artiscape, owned by Martin Scharf of Lawrence, New York, paced the mile in 1:51.3, matching her lifetime best.  She now has a career bankroll of $275,195. 

Thursday Night

Penn Pronto held off the fast closing Earl's Charm K for a head victory in the sixth race, a $12,500 condition trot, on Thursday night at the Meadowlands. Genena's Jesse was third by two and a half lengths. Penn Pronto, driven by Jim Morrill Jr. and trained by Kevin Welty, trotted the mile in 1:55.2, matching his lifetime best.  The five-year-old son of SJ's Photo, a Hambletonian contender two years ago, posted his second win in five starts this year for owner Ralph Bowling of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.  He now has career earnings of $134,367.

Wednesday Night
Theresa Hall and Smashingpringipisa, winners in the first round, both captured their respective $16,000 second leg of the Night Styles Series on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands. Theresa Hall, driven by John Campbell and trained by George Anthony, posted her third win in six starts this year with a 1:54.1 mile, finishing a length ahead of Wind Storm.  Smashingpringipisa, owned and trained by Gus Tsanakos of East Hanover, New Jersey, now has four wins in six starts this year. David Miller guided her to a 1:53 mile. It was a length and three-quarters to Follow Your Bliss in second and two and a half lengths to Artoonist, third.  The $60,000 Night Styles Final is Wednesday night, March 9.
