Race One: $40,000 Claiming Pace (10) KING COLE exploded to life mark in second start of the layoff, will be a factor if Pierce can get him involved early with lack of early speed in this race. (2) FRANCO TRUBROOKE N Morrill’s choice over the #1, big effort from post #10 but may the first over of all the closers. (5) DECOY A all of his last three efforts at the BigM have been sharp, moves up in class but met a few decent ones in nw’s. (1) MICHAEL Q drops back to level of the Harder reclaim after not being involved in last, a factor from the rail.
Race Two: Non winners of three races 5-year-olds & Under (3) BIG UNDERDOG big effort at Freehold on New Years Day and ran a gallant second to Fox Valley Gallant’s big 1:50.3 mile at Maywood in October, with Parker in control you know he has down the road plans. (10) FATES PLACE second start off scratch sick and Brennan should have him rolling early. (1) LUCKY LIFE Eric Ledford returns on another with early speed and could get the ideal trip. (7) JIGGLE YOUR CLASS Campbell’s choice of three has been sidelined for over a year with physical problems but closed stoutly in both qualifiers.
Race Three: Non-winners of three races 5-year-olds & Under (5) JENNAS CHOICE Silva trainee put in a big effort in first start at the BigM followed by impressive qualifier. (7) GUILT EDGE 12 for 16 ITM horse makes his second start with lasix and gets Morrill after big speed effort and improvement at almost 50-1. (9) DRIVING MACHINE big effort from nowadays rare Doherty trained pacer, only problem is post and lack of apparent gate speed.
Race Four: Non-winners of $15,000 Lifetime (6) FOUR STARZZZ SCOOT throw out last, previous two were good, Horowitz has decent win percentage on the class drop. (2) STEADY WACKEN impressive going uncovered in qualifier beating Sagebrush preceded by sharp score at Balmoral, big threat on the ship in for Robin Schadt, but may be overbet. (5) PERFECT PANDEROSA kept sharp by qualifying impressively after sharp uncovered effort on 12/17.
Race Five: OPEN (3) MAKE IT BRIEF USTA’s Horse of the Month for January qualified easily and should be ready to pick up were he left off. (6) WHOSURBOY been knocking heads with the best racing in Canada, has scored before on the ship in and will offer value. (8) EATON ROAD KILL looked ready in that qualifier but not sure he is ready to challenge from outside post.
Race Six: Non-winners of $20,000 (6) JOHNNY BE COOL N could get the Midwest team of Scurlock and Holland off the schneid, favorite in last four races in the Midwest facing the top stock from the Chicago circuit. (10) COLDHEARTEDREVENGE has been super for Banca with 18 for 20 ITM last year and returns off any easy score at Freehold, arguably the most impressive horse of the Fall Meet but faces his toughest challenge to date with post #10. (1) PATCH ADAMS N returns to Sears after uncovered effort and should stay close to the action from the rail. (2) DRAGONDOTCOM provides good longshot value for horse who is sharp and has key early speed.
Race Seven: Non-winners of $15,000 (10) BACK OFF drops in class through the also eligible route, impressive 54.1 last half in last but Manzi will have to get him into the race earlier. (6) CASEYS BONANZA Campbell’s choice over the #10 qualified well after impressive win free from road trouble. (2) GREAT EXPENSE we have been followers of this horse and finally got the win in his last start as a 3YO, gets the switch to Morrill. (4) ALLSTAR BLUE JEAN beaten favorite got jammed inside but should look to go down the road.
Race Eight: $75,000-$125,000 Claiming Handicap (10) PINNACLE raced well in all starts at the BigM, a watch list horse in last for brush past half in fast third quarter and none better than Campbell from post #10. (1) GENE CARTER debuts in the Lachance barn and got some needed rest after lackluster effort on closing night. (9) PREMIERONBRAODWAY a big year for the Illinois bred, not sure if he can take these down the road yet but will be dangerous if ready. (7) FRANCO CATAPULT N inconsistent sort comes off of even effort in the high condition ranks, dangerous with the trip.
Race Nine: Non-winners of $10,000 (6) CHROMINATOR has raced well since the astute claim for the Odds On Racing team, closed well after slow half in latest at Balmoral. (7) NIGHT MYSTERY beaten favorite in last two, was Campbell’s choice after offering some sneaky late foot in qualifier. (4) DREAM ROCKET broke again trying to leave, dangerous if flat. (10) ORAGAMI ARTIST steps up off the easy win off the class drop but faces a tough task from post #10.
Race Ten: $50,000-$60,000 Claiming Handicap (3) ARTS ADVANTAGE paid immediate dividends off the Harder reclaim with impressive win pacing quick middle half. (9) ROMMEL usually good off the shelf and could take these down the road. (10) MACIE THE FARMER another big effort from post #9, wont be any easier though. (6) CAM ST PARTNERS second start for Daley after sharp close in qualifier.
Race 11: Non-winners of three races, 5-year-olds & Under (3) PLAYSCAPE goes for three in a row after sharp two move effort and great Sears drive. (8) TONI’S FUTURE beaten favorite offered some good late foot once finding room. (1) DU WAH DIDDY should be in for a smoother journey from the rail after a couple of tough trips upon shipping from California. (5) LIL ANG FRA faded after facing some toughies, previous were good.
Race 12: $50,000 Claiming 4 and 5-year-olds (4) OLIVER CUSTIS brush to fast half in game effort first start at the BigM. (8) LITTLE AMOS makes his debut in the Lachance barn after two sharp efforts since shipping in. (6) ART FORM Sears’ choice over the early line favorite, some decent late pace in qualifier and uncovered effort in second start off the layoff. (1) WILDCAT FEVER some tough trip since the claim, may look to sit the rail.
Race 13: Non-winners of three races, 5-year-olds & Under (2) ANTON watch list horse for being parked past fast half from post #9 first start off the layoff. (1) ALWAYS A THREAT should be just that from the rail and flashing some early speed in latest. (7) MERCENARY HALL lightly raced problem horse faced some tough stock at the Red Mile and looked a little like his old self in the qualifier. (9) ANGLEBROOK offered some sings of life with some decent late inside pace his fourth start off layoff and has some early foot.
Race 14: Non-winners of $10,000 (4) SPORTS FANTASY drops from the high price claimers since last seen here and exits race at the Meadows with little chance trying to close in fast last half. (8) LCB could be sitting on a big effort after finding no room as beaten favorite in last race and being taken back in his qualifier. (10) ARMBRO AIRBORNE game effort after being hard used pacing 26.3 second quarter. (7) ALERT MOTORING N was 0 for 13 in here and was not involved in last at Freehold from post #7 but last race here offered sharp speed from post #8.
