Sweet Baby Jane takes first leg of Series Wednesday

Sweet Baby Jane nosed out 6-5 favorite Pacific Philly to win the $12,500 division of the Tender Loving Care Series Wednesday night at the Meadowlands. Driven by Eric Ledford and trained by George Berkner, Sweet Baby Jane set a mark of 1:56.4 in the event for three-year-old filly pacers. The Golden Hart Stable of Asbury Park, New Jersey bred and owns the daughter of Artiscape-Maine Jan. The partnership, which is comprised of Berkner’s wife, Ginny, James Aaron and Martin Schwartz, also bred the filly’s half-brother, San Gimignano, a winner of $250,000 from 1999-2000. The Tender Loving Care Series continues with a second leg on February 15 and concludes with a $64,000 on February 24.
