Divisional Winners Qualify at The Big M

Ken Warkentin, the Two-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year; Solveig, the Two-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year and Housethatruthbuilt, the Three-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year, were among those tuning up for their season's debuts Friday morning, May 27 at The Meadowlands. Ken Warkentin, winner of eight of nine starts at two, trotted a last quarter in 27.3 in his 1:57.4 mile in the fifth qualifying event, finishing fourth with David Miller in the sulky. Dexter Cup runner-up Great George Two won the heat in 1:56 flat.

The Takter-trained Solveig was second by eight and a half lengths to Blur in the seventh event. Blur, the Merrie Annabelle runner-up, trotted her mile in 1:57 while Solveig was timed in 1:58.3. Housethatruthbuilt won her sixth race qualifier by more than 14 lengths, trotting in 1:53.3, last quarter in 27.2, with trainer-driver Trond Smedshammer in the sulky. At three, she won 11 of 15 starts, including the Breeders Crown.

Defending Horse of the Year Rainbow Blue and the three-year-old divisional champion pacing colt, Timesareachanging were also on display. Rainbow Blue has won all three of her starts this year. Ron Pierce was at the lines when she paced her mile in 1:51 flat with a last quarter in 26.3. Little Brown Jug winner. Timesareachanging won his qualifier in
