Artistic Fella Wins Meadowlands Pace

Artistic Fella wins $1 Million Meadowlands Pace

July 15, 2006

Artistic Fella took the lead early and never relinquished it for driver Cat Manzi, giving the Hall of Fame reinsman his very first Meadowland's Pace victory in 1:48.4.

"It was a great feeling to win this race," Cat noted. "I didn't know exactly how I was going to steer this horse but when he settled in on the front end for me, I was pretty confident. This horse just does what he has to do. I got after him a little bit in deep stretch just to keep him going. This is so fun and it was like my destiny to get to drive this horse again."

"This is a one in a lifetime shot," owner Joe Alborano noted. "We'll see how the horse comes out of the race, how well he is. This is certainly one night I'll never forget."

Took Hanover went to the front of the field of 10 and got to the first quarter in :26.3. Manzi and Artistic Fella made a move before the half to get in front at reach the second quarter in :53.1. The duo was a length in front coming up to the final turn, holding off Took Hanover to the third in 1:21.3.

A sophomore son of Pacific Fella-Everythings Easy, Artistic Fella now boasts nine consecutive wins in 13 starts this year for trainer Steve Elliott and owner Joseph Alborano of New Egypt, New Jersey.
